"Old Halych" Reservation
The Ukrainian history numbers a lot of glorious names and the heroic deeds of those people are written in gold letters in the national chronicles.
In the constellation of the national heroes of Ukraine the unparalleled figure of Oleksa Dovbush occupies his special place. The movement of opryshkies in the Carpathians left its significant trace in Ukrainian history. Up to the present days in the regions near the Carpathians and in Bukovyna one can find caves, rocks, rivers and valleys connected in the memory of people with the fighters against serfdom -called "the opryshky" and their famous leaders, who fought for the oppressed peasantry liberation.

As far as approximately 80 km from Yaremche there is the oldest reservation named "Old Halych", having a lot of historical and archeological memorials of world significance. Such important findings as Halych castle, Halych museum, St.Pantheleymon Church (dated 12th cent.), the ruins of Starostynska fortress (dated 14th cent.), ramparts and a museum in the open air are situated there.
